Yield: 1 L of Sangria
Sangria
- 1 bottle Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Noir (750 ml)
- 1 cup Sparkling wine or Apple Cider (250 ml)
- 1 cup Orange juice (250 ml)
- 1 apple cut into cubes
- 1 orange (with non-toxic peel)
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or 2 tbsp brown sugar dissolved in 50 ml water
For serving (rim)
- cinnamon sticks for decor
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon powder
In a large pitcher, put all the sliced fruits and add the sweetner. If you're using brown sugar, melt it over low heat in 50ml of water and allow it to cool before adding it to the pitcher.
Add the red wine, the sparkling wine (or apple cider, according to your wish) and the orange juice. Mix well with a wooden spoon and allow it to sit for 30 minute so that the fruits and wine will infuse with each other's flavours.
Cinnamon sugar glass rim:
In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp of brown sugar with ½tsp cinnamon. Dip the glasses' edges in syrup, then dip them in the sugar mix.
Pour the sangria in glasses, than add a cinnamon stick in each cocktail for decor.(The cinnamon stick is optional)
