Red Wine Poached Pears

- 3 pears
- 500 ml red wine Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon work best
- 3 slices orange peel included
- juice from one orange
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or brown sugar
- 3-4 cloves optional
Peel the pears and cut them in half.
In a medium sauce pan, place the wine and spices and bring to a boil.
Add the pears, reduce heat and cook for aproximately 20 minutes, ocasionally flipping them.
Leave in the pan until the pears and the liquid cool down.
Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
