Lately I’ve become more aware of the impact I have on the environment, so I try to minimize waste in all ways possible – I use a Keep Cup, I avoid plastic bags and always carry a reusable shopping bag with me, I don’t use straws etc. And I try to keep my waste levels on the low when I’m cooking as well. So whenever I make a galette, a tart or any other recipes and I have some leftover dough- be it shorcrust or puff pastry, I whip up these jam twists to avoid waste! They are super delicious and a great snack so your coffee doesn’t feel lonely in the morning!
A few tips and tricks for this recipe:
-The best part about this Leftover dough jam twists recipe is that you can use whatever comes in handy!
-You can pick any jam you have in your pantry- I used this sugar-free raspberry jam because I had a jar in my fridge.
-Also, I used shorcrust pastry dough because I made this recipe after making the Berry Galette. I do think that puff pastry works better, but the point of the recipe itself is using leftover dough so you avoid waste.
-I made the twists quite long, but you can make them smaller as well.
The mehod is as simple as can be : You roll the leftover dough into a rectangle. Spread the chosen jam all over it and fold in half. Cut strips of dough and twist them. Brush with eggwash and bake. And done. You just made yourself a nice batch of Jam twists with leftover dough. I KNOW, RIGHT??
And they’re the perfect snack if you need a quick bite while you’re on your way to work because you skipped breakfast. So yeah. It’s basically a bonus to the dessert you were already making. Who can complain about that?!
